On a cold spring day in 2021, Intech’s Jamie Lewis was manning a safety boat on the Ohio River, watching over workers on the Roebling Suspension Bridge. This day would be the first time he ever had to spring into action to rescue someone from the water.
Jamie works in Intech’s bridge inspection support services division and normally helps keep bridge inspectors and workers safe. This time it wasn’t an inspector or worker who fell, but a woman attempting to take her own life. Jamie raced to her aid, single handedly pulled her into the boat, and took her to a waiting ambulance on the riverbank.
“There is little doubt that he saved this woman’s life,” Covington Assistant Fire Chief Greg Salmons said at the time.
Jamie received a Citizen Lifesaver Award from the Covington Fire Department last year and was named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Andy Beshear. This month, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron awarded him the Citizen Certificate of Commendation for his heroic actions.
Congratulations to Jamie Lewis for these honors and thank you for your selflessness and heroism.
