On a cold spring day in 2021, Intech’s Jamie Lewis was manning a safety boat on the Ohio River, watching over workers on the Roebling Suspension Bridge. This day would be the first time he ever had to spring into action to rescue someone from the water.
Intech president David Houchin has been inducted into the 2022 class of the Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame.
Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame inductees shall be persons who by their foresight, dedication, leadership, perseverance, and integrity have significantly enhanced transportation systems in the Commonwealth. They shall be or shall have been residents of the Commonwealth.
For the sixth time in seven years, Intech has earned a spot in Engineering News Record's Top 600 Specialty Contractors list. Published annually, the list ranks specialty contractors nationwide according to the previous year's revenue.
The Bowling Green Daily News has featured Intech's project on the historic Old Richardsville Rd. Bridge, built in 1889. This is Intech's second project on the bridge, having repaired the timber deck in 2015.
KY Governor Andy Beshear recently visited Elliott County and recognized Intech's project to restore the historic Old Laurel Gorge Bridge on Little Sandy River.
“By investing in our infrastructure, we are ensuring it will stand the test of time and be here not just for us, but for our children and grandchildren,” said Beshear. “This project will protect families, reduce traffic and improve the lives of all Kentuckians in the region who rely on the bridge and need it to reopen after all necessary safety upgrades have been made.”

Initiated in 1992, the Hall of Distinction recognizes and honors those alumni who have demonstrated distinguished professional accomplishments, outstanding character and commitment to community service. This recognition serves to encourage exemplary achievements by current students and others. It is a symbol of the respect and admiration held by the university for these esteemed individuals. Houchin graduated from UK in 1970 with a B.S.
